Weekend Storms

We had some nasty thunderstorms pass through NE Minneapolis Friday night (6/21).  Shortly after the winds picked up and the storm hit, we lost power at 8:30 pm.  After talking to our neighbor, we ventured out in the car to see the damage around our neighborhood.  Stop lights were out, and trees were down on houses, cars, and power lines.  It was hard to see the full extent of what happened until the following morning.  Since we had no power yet Saturday morning, I decided to venture out and walk around the neighborhoods and snap some photos.  I was shocked to see how many full mature trees were down and what damage the night's storm had inflicted upon us.

This tree nearly missed this house.

Crews were working on removing a large tree that took down power lines up 27th Ave in NE Minneapolis.

The uprooting of this tree was so forceful that it pulled up large slabs of the concrete sidewalk as well.

Unfortunately this one landed on someone's house.

A scary sight to see, especially from the inside of this house!

A large tree blocking the intersection.

This one was major; I feel terrible for the owners of this home!

Even the curb was pulled up..

Neighbors stand amongst a fallen tree in the road.

More blocked roads.

A house that just missed this tree limb.

This home lost two major pines in their yard.

A light pole tangled in a tree that went down.

Another view of a tree that took out power.

This tree took out a nice vehicle.

Another house damaged from the storms.

A small tree uprooted; maybe this one can be saved!
