Old Random Finds....

I was going through my computer this morning deleting old files when I stumbled across some old pictures that I had forgotten about!

My nephew Sebastian and I in our "brace face" days...

Amanda, a co-worker of mine and I taken a few years back in Ikea.  Those are frogs on our heads...

A pic of Laura and I at a cookout about 5-6 years back.

Some of my old friends from the cookout 5-6 years back....

This was a farm cat that my mom had a few years ago.  Note the color of his eyes....

A stream close by my parent's farm.

Canoes at Wild River State Park...

Some fall leaves that I snapped a shot of a few years back...

Mount Rainier!  I visited this National Park in November of 2005

Admiring the huge trees in Washington state

Christine Falls in Mount Rainier National Park

This was the after effect of the volcano of Mt. St. Helens in Washington back in the 80's.  This was the "blast zone." Still in 2005, there wasn't much growth that had occured over the years.

Mount Rainier and me!

A foggy hillside in Mount Rainier National Park, back in 2005.

Narada Falls.  This was a massive and quite impressive waterfall!

In the forest within Mount Rainier National Park.

Foggy and beautiful in the fall... I spotted this along a drive in Mount Rainier National Park

Totem Poles!!!  I took this in Vancouver, B.C. in the fall of 2005.

A bit rusty...

I'm trying to brush up on my photography.  I haven't really done anything since last summer.  I think I need a few refreshers.... here are a few that I've recently done.  Just some randoms....
This is one of my mom's farm cats.  I believe his name is Bryer... .he was following me around my mom's yard when I last visited.
My mom's tulip garden... lots of color!
Gorgeous tulips
I love this variety of tulip!  I think it's called Mickey Mouse?
Some of my mom's lilacs were in bloom while I was home last.  I tried to catch a shot of them with the afternoon lighting shining on them.
A cemetary shot in Minneapolis.  I found this single rose lying on one of the stones.
Light reflecting through the maples in a local cemetary in Minneapolis.
Taken at a local cemetary in Minneapolis.  Had I used a filter for this shot, the sky would of looked deeper blue as I had seen it.
Down by the Lock and Dam by Minnehaha Falls, Minneapolis.  Tried to catch the reflection at sunset.
One of the bridges by the Lock and Dam in Minneapolis.  I was disappointed the way these turned out.  The color wasn't as saturated as I had liked it.
Perhaps a filter would of made the colors in the shot more saturated.

Another shot of a bridge in Minneapolis at dusk.  I'm going to revisit this location and attempt better shots of this scene with lens filters.
Gorgeous reflection...

Progress

5/20/10- I tore a ton of invasive perennials out last night!  They had taken over the entire area where it looks empty now.
Slowly making room for new shrubs.... amongst the weeds and plethora of invasive unwanted perennials, were some good perennials that I didn't even know where there because they were smothered.

05/20/10- The ivy across the top of the windows are gone, and half the front has been weeded and perennials have been removed.  It's looking better already!!

I've been working on the front yard nightmare recently.  My first project was to attack this retaining wall and redo it.  Last night I finished it!
Another view of the remake.
First part done, much, much more to go...

Last night my sister and I visited our friends, Michon & Mike to see their new addition to their family.  This is their son, Emmit.  What a tiny cutie!

Pleasant Drive

Tonight I drove down to my hometown, Worthington, to visit my parent's for the weekend.  Minnesota had cold, rainy weather all day.  The winds blew in quite the cloud display.  With a mix of sun and rain, came a show of numerous rainbows. While trying to drive against high winds, a rain covered windshield, and my knee on the steering wheel, I managed to grab my phone and capture the rainbow before it disappeared.

With camera phone in hand at 70mph comes interesting photo attempts.  Here I was trying to catch a photo of the windmill, but things turned out a bit "wavy".
Another round of rainbows 10 minutes after the first sighting.  If you look real close you can see that there are actually two here.
A cool shot of the train passing along the interstate and the rainbow.  I'm surprised I didn't go off the road trying to capture these!
